Since I have moved frequently over the course of my life, I have adopted the habit of collecting small mementos that I have carried with me, to facilitate the often stressful process of uprooting. Though the collecting was intuitive, the objects that have remained over the years come mostly from my immediate living environment, or from the respective neighborhoods. Starting from a stone of the Isar in Munich, a glass shard from my street in Berlin and a wooden block found in the stairwell of my new flat share in Vienna, I asked myself the question: What do we remember ? How do we remember? What is the feeling that remains and how does it change as time goes by? Whilst the form and the color of the objects continue, I tried to capture the atmosphere of the place they are representing.
I Packed My Bags to M. to B. to W. is a reflection on memory transformation and memory transmission, as well as a small homage to what has been my main habitat until now: big cities.
This work was produced in the context of the ceramics Studio in a lecture held by Canan Dagdelen.

Da ich im Laufe meines Lebens viel umgezogen bin, habe ich mir angewöhnt, kleine Erinnerungsstücke zu sammeln, die ich mit mir herumgetragen habe, um den oft stressigen Prozess der Entwurzelung zu erleichtern. Obwohl das Sammeln intuitiv war, stammen die Objekte, die mir im Laufe der Jahre geblieben sind, meist aus meiner unmittelbaren Wohnumgebung oder aus den jeweiligen Stadtteilen. Ausgehend von einem Stein aus der Isar in München, einer Glasscherbe aus meiner Straße in Berlin und einem Holzklotz, den ich im Treppenhaus meiner neuen WG in Wien gefunden habe, habe ich mir die Frage gestellt: Woran erinnern wir uns? Wie erinnern wir uns? Was ist das Gefühl, das bleibt und wie verändert es sich im Laufe der Zeit? Während die Form und die Farbe der Objekte bleibt, versuche ich gleichzeitig die Atmosphäre des Ortes, den sie repräsentieren, einzufangen. I packed my bags – to M. to B. to W. ist eine Reflexion über die Transformation von Erinnerungen und die Übertragung von Erinnerungen, sowie eine kleine Hommage an das, was bisher mein Hauptlebensraum war: die Großstädte.
Diese Arbeit entstand im Keramik-Studio in einer Lehrveranstaltung von Canan Dagdelen.
Helene Blechinger (*1989, Hamburg) studied acting at the Otto-Falckenberg-Schule in Munich from 2009 to 2013. Since then, she worked in permanent engagements, as well as freelance. Since 2021, she has studied art and communicative practice (kkp) and design, material culture and experimental practice (dex) at the University of Applied Arts and French at the University of Vienna. Helene Blechinger’s work is concerned with the exploration of social emotions and their concepts, as well as the phenomenon of emotional memory. By combining drawing, sculpture and sound, she seeks to translate perception into a spatial construct. In her practice she likes to use easily malleable, recyclable materials, such as paper or clay, or works with existing found objects.
Helene Blechinger (*1989, Hamburg) hat von 2009 bis 2013 Schauspiel an der Otto-Falckenberg-Schule München studiert und war seitdem im Festengagement, als auch freischaffend tätig. Seit 2021 studiert sie Kunst und kommunikative Praxis (kkp) und Design, materielle Kultur und experimentelle Praxis (dex) an der Universität für angewandte Kunst und Französisch an der Universität Wien. In ihrer Arbeit beschäftigt Helene Blechinger die Erforschung sozialer Gefühle und deren Konzepte sowie das Phänomen der emotionalen Erinnerung. Durch die Kombination von Zeichnung, Skulptur und Sound versucht sie, Wahrnehmung in ein räumliches Konstrukt zu übersetzen. In ihrer Praxis verwendet sie leicht formbare, recycelbare Materialien, wie Papier oder Ton oder arbeitet mit gefundenen Objekten.
